Noise Activated Warning Sign

When working areas are subject to noise levels which are intermittent there is not always a need for workers to use hearing protection. The Noise Activated Warning Sign is a sound meter designed to light up only when necessary – at times when noise levels become dangerous and workers are required to wear hearing protection or leave the area.

Built for tough industrial settings the Noise Activated Warning Sign has a built in sound meter and large, clear sign which indicates exactly when hearing protection must be worn. Warning text is supplied to required standards but custom signs are also available.

The design of the Warning Sign enables more than one sign to be used at once – a slave system means larger working areas can be covered with extra signs being linked together. There is also the option to use a small flashing beacon attached to the sign case or a larger beacon connected remotely.

The Warning Sign is a self contained unit and is shipped ready to install by any qualified electrician. Front panel text has “Hearing Protection Must Be Worn” as standard but we also have different signs to suit your needs. For example, entertainment venues can use the “Music Too Loud” sign.

We also have a system designed in a waterproof stainless steel case for the food industry or areas where liquids and humidity are a factor.

Working in certain environments can mean changes in noise levels which may, at times, be dangerous and damage hearing. The Sound Check Personal Noise Indicator is a simple and easy to use device which has lights which show when noise levels become dangerous.

Designed not just for workers in industrial areas, the Sound Check is also useful for pubs, clubs, music venues or other leisure activities where noise can be a problem.

Sound Check has 3 LEDs – red, green and amber – which light up when certain noise levels are reached. Green for 80dB, Amber for 80-100dB and red for levels above 100dB.

Noise complaints are common from people living near pubs and clubs. Live bands, karoke and other entertainment can cause serious problems from noise pollution. Many venues have lost entertainment licenses because of these problems. The Electronic Orange helps to prevent the problems.

Castle Training Academy courses are designed to teach you and give you a detailed and highly practical knowledge in health and safety and environmental subjects such as noise, vibration, air sampling and audiometry.

These courses are held over a few days in the scenic surroundings of Scarborough in North Yorkshire and cover much of the information you will need to understand the subject. We also bring in the tools and meters so you can get hands-on experience of measurement and can understand and analyse the results.

Course cover a range of topics, each designed for certain working environments, and include Noise At Work, Air Sampling and COSHH, Industrial Audiometry, Human Vibration (including hand-arm and whole-body vibration), Condition Monitoring, Environmental Noise Assessment and the 3 excellent IOSH courses for working, managing and directing safely.

Free Health and Safety Seminars

We run a series of seminars about current legislation and information about some of the most important aspects of health and safety at work. These seminars are free to attend and are run throughout the country every month.

The Control of Noise at Work and Control of Vibration at Work regulations have come into effect in the last few years and updated earlier versions of the same legislation. It is important that employers understand their requirements when it comes to noise and vibration and this is an excellent seminar which covers the most important aspects of the legislation.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 are designed to give employers detailed information about safe exposure limits in working environments from chemicals, gases and other dangerous substances. This seminar covers information about your requirements.

Audiometry is an essential part of covering noise at work. Employers are required to give employees hearing checks when they are known to be working in environments which have excessive noise levels. The seminar covers the requirements of employers, the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 and standards related to human hearing.

Covering legislation regarding Environment Noise, this seminar deals with standards and legislation including Planning Policy Guidance, noise surveys, noisy neighbours and entertainment venues such as pubs and clubs. An ideal introduction to council officers and those working in construction.
